A replica of the popular "high-spined" lizard.
Sporting a distinctive row of neural spines, this "high-spined lizard" likely had a hump or ridge covering the tall vertebrae. The function of this structure is a mystery, like much of anatomy of Acrocanthosaurus. Endocasts have suggested that the animal had a brain like a crocodile's, with an excellent sense of smell. Osteological studies show that the animal was fairly muscular and bulky, but probably not a great runner. This replica for the Carnegie Collection is 7.5" in length, poised in an active rearing posture.
