Cast in vibrant tropical hues, this baby Apatosaurus was designed as a companion piece for the adult Apatosaurus in the Carnegie Collection. When placed next to its parent, this sauropodlet appears to be craning its neck inquisitively at its gargantuan caretaker. The original baby Apatosaurus figure was sculpted with a swan-like neck that turned the head 180 degrees. Recent research suggests that this posture would have broken the vertebrae, so this resculpted version shows the neck position in a more conservative position. When displayed in conjuction with the adult, this 16.5 centimeter long figure conveys the often overlooked, nurturing behavior of dinosaurs.
