As feathered theropods become more common in contemporary paleoart, one must always remember the feathered dinosaur that "started it all". Safari released their first Archaeopteryx replica in 2015, and one swift glance at the fearsome claws and toothed jaw make it quite obvious why this transitional fossil became a truly historical discovery, sometimes seen as a beautiful symbol of evolutionary science. This reconstruction impressively incorporates recent studies on the feathers, which suggest Archaeopteryx may have possessed raven-like iridescent black plumage.
