Deinosuchus was a large crocodile relative that lived during the Late Cretaceous Period alongside dinosaurs. It was long thought to be closely related to modern crocodilians and alligators, but recent research suggests it may have branched off from true crocodilians much earlier. Size estimates have varied over the years, but it is known to have had a skull that could reach five feet in length.
