Oviraptor on Nest by Safari Dino Discoveries

$14.99
This striking statue depicts a mother Oviraptor perched protectively over her nest.
This striking figure seems to laugh in the face of apologetic paleontolgists, who once believed (based on fossil evidence) that the so-called "egg thief" dinosaur was fond of stealing and eating the eggs of other dinosaurs.  While this may have very well been true, it is now known that some early fossil discoveries actually contained Oviraptors guarding their own nests rather than invading someone else's.  This vibrantly feathered Oviraptor figure perched astride her nest is a wonderful homage to one of the most famous and well-documented raptors ever discovered.  This 12 by 15 centimeter diorama also appears to be  based on the beautiful artwork of Luis Rey.
